Getting High in Peru, Condors

Getting High in Peru: Condors
We left Cusco by bus for the Sacred Valley. While on the way, we stopped at a Wildlife Sanctuary, the Santuario Animal De Cochahuasi where we were able to get close and personal with lots of critters. A special treat was to get close to the condors since we were only able to get distant shots of them soaring in Colca Canyon. According to the signs here, their wing span can be 10.6 feet. The sign also points out modern dangers for the condor population.

Note how the critter is reading the sign? The sign also points out that the llamas, alpacas, and the other are part of the camel family.

This sign posts why the condor may be in danger of extinction.

This sanctuary works with the wool from the llamas, alpacas, ... uses natural dyes and sells products.

One example of a carpet for purchase.
